RADIESSE - Collagen stimulator

RADIESSE is a dermal filler used to smooth moderate to severe wrinkles and folds on the face.

RADIESSE® is a dermal filler and collagen stimulator used to smooth moderate to severe wrinkles and folds on the face. RADIESSE® is the only dermal filler that provides immediate results and long-term improvement in the treatment area. It is suitable for both women and men.
Its skilful combination with other aesthetic procedures is the modern adequate counteraction to the ageing process and preservation of a youthful appearance without surgical intervention.

What is RADIESSE®?

The RADIESSE® formula combines a gel with small calcium microspheres called calcium hydroxylapatite, which is structurally similar to that found in bones and teeth. The two elements work together to add volume and stimulate the production of new collagen. When injected, the gel component creates temporary filling. The remaining calcium particles create a scaffold around which tissue builds up, creating longer-lasting filling.

What is Calcium Hydroxyapatite?

Calcium hydroxylapatite, or CaHA, is what makes RADIESSE® unique as an injectable aesthetic treatment. It is the first and only CaHA product that provides both immediate, natural-looking results and long-term improvement—a year or more in many patients.

Applications of RADIESSE® in aesthetic dermatology

RADIESSE® is a dermal filler and collagen stimulator, but with an extraordinary effect on the treated area. Immediately after injection, it creates volume and contours. Subsequently, hydroxyapatite begins to work and create a scaffold around which the skin accumulates collagen and elastin, which build new tissue. RADIESSE® is an indispensable aid for restoring structural losses in the skin, tightening and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles on the face, neck, and décolleté. It is also used to tighten, smooth, and correct volume loss in the skin on the upper arms.
Your skin changes over time due to a decrease in collagen and elastin, which contribute to skin strength and elasticity. Unfortunately, aging and environmental factors (such as sunlight) hinder the body’s production of these components. Decreased collagen and elastin can lead to wrinkles and sagging skin on the face, which are the first signs of skin aging.

Main advantages of RADIESSE®

RADIESSE® is the only dermal filler of its kind with immediate and delayed action. When the gel carrier in the RADIESSE® formula breaks down, a dense network of collagen fibers is formed thanks to the second component, calcium hydroxylapatite.
The collagen and elastin formed replace the correction provided by the carrier gel, smoothing lines and helping to renew the skin’s structure.
RADIESSE® is not animal-based and does not contain animal proteins. Preliminary allergy testing is not necessary.

Duration of the RADIESSE® procedure result?

All dermal fillers provide only temporary results. Over time, the body naturally breaks down the filler, causing the treated area to return to its previous state. The duration of the results can vary significantly depending on the individual characteristics of each patient.
Unlike any other dermal filler, RADIESSE® works in two phases – instant filling in the treatment area and increased collagen production over time. Therefore, the results of the procedures last for 18-24 months or longer.

How many treatments are needed to achieve the desired result?

The number of procedures required to achieve the desired result depends on your individual facial characteristics and your personal treatment plan. Your dermatologist will determine with you the number of procedures and the amount of RADIESSE®® you will need for each procedure. A correction may be necessary to achieve the desired result.

When RADIESSE® is an appropriate procedure

  • When you have a problem with sagging skin
  • When you have fine lines or wrinkles
  • When mesotherapy does not give the desired effect
  • When the desired result is skin tightening
  • When you are looking for natural results

When RADIESSE® is inapplicable - contraindications

  • RADIESSE® is contraindicated in patients with severe allergies, manifested by a history of anaphylaxis or a history or presence of multiple severe allergies.
  • RADIESSE® should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components.
  • RADIESSE® is not intended for use in patients with known hypersensitivity to lidocaine or amide-type anesthetics.
  • RADIESSE® is contraindicated in patients with blood clotting disorders.

How the RADIESSE® procedure works

Like any other aesthetic procedure at Skin Line, RADIESSE® injections begin with an aesthetic consultation so that the patient is fully informed about what to expect and what the final results may be. During the consultation, you and your dermatologist decide whether this is the most appropriate procedure for you and whether the results you expect can be achieved.
The patient reviews the contents and signs an informed consent form for the injection procedure.
Next, the patient is prepared for the injection—the area to be treated is cleaned and disinfected.
The area to be treated is numbed with an anesthetic cream containing lidocaine.
This is followed by the actual injection of RADIESSE® into the target areas.
The patient is informed of the results achieved by the injection.
The results of RADIESSE® procedures begin to appear after the first procedure. After completion of the treatment, the skin rejuvenation effect continues.

Within the first 24 hours after RADIESSE® injection:

  • The treated areas should not be washed in order to avoid contamination;
  • Do not exercise or engage in physical activity;
  • Avoid excessively hot environments (solarium, Turkish bath, sauna, etc.);
  • Avoid alcohol consumption and smoking;
  • Do not expose yourself to direct sunlight;
  • Drink plenty of water.

Is the RADIESSE® procedure painful?

Pain or discomfort during the procedure is minimal, as the procedure is performed by an experienced injector. The procedure is minimally invasive and is performed through a series of injections using an ultra-thin needle. RADIESSE® contains added lidocaine to numb the injection site during the procedure. However, the sensation of pain depends on the individual tolerance of each patient and can vary widely. The application of anesthetic cream and the use of special ultra-thin needles greatly reduces discomfort during the procedure.
